A reminder to all families that beginning Monday, December 14, we will return in our hybrid learning model. This model will be the same as it was earlier in the academic year. Students whose last names begin with A – K will attend in-person Mondays and Tuesdays. Students whose last names begin with L – Z will attend in-person on Thursdays and Fridays. All students will continue to learn remotely on Wednesdays. Parents still have the option to have their students learn fully remote. Some of our students with additional services received a message from Dr. Tudryn earlier this week – those students are able to attend 4 days per week.
If any families would like to change the learning model for their children (in- person to remote or remote to in- person) we ask you to contact the main office of your child’s school. And if you have any questions, please contact your child’s school.
Parents please ensure you have updated your school nurse if your child tested positive for COVID-19 or is self-quarantining based on an exposure. It is imperative the the school nurses have accurate information as we return to our hybrid form of learning. We also need to remind families that anyone who travels to a state listed on the Governor’s travel advisory must quarantine for 14 days prior to returning to school. This is critical to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our community and we ask that you not return to school after travel without observing the quarantine. Thank you for your assistance.
District-wide updates about COVID-19 cases will be provided in the weekly Parent Updates going forward. Anyone who is determined to be a close contact will still be personally contacted, as is our current practice. Anyone who is not a close contact will need to utilize the same mitigation strategies as we do every day – mask wearing, hand washing, and maintaining personal space as able. We continue to monitor our ventilation systems as well as clean and disinfect our buildings. At this time, the Department of Public Health is delayed in notification to districts but we have had one case reported this week.
Please remember that there are two district-wide pajama days for the CCMC fundraiser – Dec 15 for students with last names A – K and Dec 18 for students with last names L – Z.
Parents are encouraged to reach out to their child’s teachers or building administrators if their child is disengaged from their school work during the pandemic. We want to collaborate with you to support your child. We ask that if you receive a phone call or email from a teacher or administrator, please respond as soon as you are able. We realize that families are very busy but we want to work with families to keep our students successful in their academics.
Finally, I will be out on a medical leave due to surgery beginning December 17. I will be unavailable for approximately two weeks. During that time, Dr. Patrick Tudryn, Assistant Superintendent will be overseeing district operations. Please feel free to contact the Central Office at 860-623-3346 ext 7404 with any questions.
I hope everyone has a relaxing winter break.
