Good afternoon,

I have a few quick updates to share with all of our East Windsor school community.

In- person learning: First, a reminder that grades K, 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 and 12 will begin attending school 4- days per week beginning Monday Nov 2. This only applies if your child is attending in-person classes.  If you have decided that your child will do full remote learning, they do not need to come in to attend classes.  If you would like to change the model of instruction your child has (in person or full remote) we need you to contact your child’s school; this is especially true if your child will change to in-person learning – we need to hear from families prior to their return so we can appropriately plan for them to be with us.

Travel for Thanksgiving – the East Windsor schools are requiring any student or staff who travels to a state identified on Gov. Lamont’s travel advisory to quarantine for 14 days prior to returning to school.  We are following the advice of our health district to require the 14 days rather than allowing folks to provide a negative test.  We are making this decision erring on the side of safety for our students and staff.  Thank you for your understanding, especially in light of the increasing positive test rate in CT. .

Weather – I had not planned on having to address the issue of inclement weather in October but Mother Nature had other ideas.  The Department of Education has given Superintendent’s the ability to decide if we will have remote learning days rather than traditional snow days for this school year.  I intend to use that option and we will be reminding students to take home laptops when poor weather is in the forecast.  Please encourage your children to remember their laptops as well.  If we have remote learning days, rather than traditional snow days, we will not have to extend the school year in June.

I would like to remind families that resources related to COVID 19 can be found on the Reopening Information page of the website.

Thank you and enjoy the weekend

Christine
